Detail by Owner
  • Brakes overhauled: Previously had issues with rear brakes binding so it had New rear shoes, rear cylinders, and hose. New brake lines throughout. Master Cylinder reconditioned. The brakes are now spot on! Front pads and discs may need doing soon, but they work perfectly at the moment.
  • Engine has had a new thermostat (as a precaution - it has never overheated), new HT leads and plugs, and new fuel line in the engine bay. It's a 2 litre Pinto petrol coupled to a 4 speed manual gearbox. The clutch is good, and all gears select as they should. The engine runs well with good power. It can be lumpy on tickover and occasionally cuts out (always starts again), so it may need the carb adjusting
  • I have dismantled, cleaned, and reasembled most of the switches and electrical connections, so that the electrics work as they should! That includes lights, indicators, and wipers! The horn has recently stopped working but I may get time to fix this before it goes.

It has MOT until december 2014, and tax until next year (free tax). I have the V5 and the MOT certificate. It passed MOT with only a few advisories, the chassis is solid, the steps in the cab are good. There are some panels on the coachbuilt body that will need re-attaching, and there is some rust around the rain tray at the top of the cab, and at the bottom of the drivers door, and a couple of spots on the bonnet / grill. The bodywork and interior will need attention and painting (it's quite damp inside so will probably need gutting and re-doing), but you can drive this away as a rolling resto project! I havent tried driving it at night but I should imagine the headlights aren't great (they dont look very bright during the day) so I wouldn't recommend driving at night, and being an old van it only comfortably does about 50mph, but that all adds to the fun of driving a classic!

Please don't expect a mint condition camper, it is 46 years old and does need some work, but it's a good example and I would be keeping it if I had the space and time. It has all the facilities inside - cooker, fridge, toilet, boiler etc, but I haven't tried any of these so they may / may not work. Hopefully someone else can put the work in to finish her off and end up with a rare classic!
